HW (Wide Flange) — Column Grade HW
HW350×350 has nearly equal depth and flange width, giving strong axial and bending capacity in both axes. Used for corner columns where load is highest.
HN (Narrow Flange) — Beam Grade HN
HN400×200 has deep web and narrow flange, efficient for bending about the strong axis. Ideal for beams spanning between columns.
HM (Medium Flange) — Mid Column Grade HM
HM340×250 balances axial load and bending. Used as interior columns where load is lower than corner columns but higher than beam-only members.

From the detail drawing, the joint uses:
· End plate: 10 mm thick welded to column flange
· Bolts: M20, pitch 22 mm
· Weld: 8 mm fillet weld
· Joint type: rigid moment connection
Bolted field connection speeds up erection compared to fully welded joints.
1. Multi-story steel structures — HW columns + HN beams form the standard moment-resisting frame for 3–10 story buildings.
2. Industrial plant buildings — Q355 H beams carry crane loads and roof loads in single-story factories.
3. Warehouse & logistics centers — long-span HN beams reduce interior columns, maximizing storage layout.
4. Steel structure residential buildings — factory-fabricated H sections enable fast, lightweight residential construction.
5. Bridge approach & trestles — HN/HM sections work as stringers and bracing in pedestrian and small vehicle bridges.

· Standardized sections — mill-produced to GB/T 11263, no custom welding needed
· Higher strength than welded — continuous hot-rolling gives better material properties
· Cost efficient — standard sizes are readily available and cheaper than built-up sections
· Q355 grade — higher yield strength than Q235, lighter sections for same load Q355
HW350×350 columns, HN400×200 beams, HM340×250 interior posts — 11 standard hot rolled H beam members, Q355, GB/T 11263-2017, ready for bolted steel frame erection
