【Zhongda Enterprise】Baiyin Huadong to Saiyin Wendu Railway Truss Bridge Project

The Baiyin Huadong to Saiyin Wendu Railway Truss Bridge Project, jointly constructed by China Railway No. 9 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and Zhongda Steel Structure in Inner Mongolia, must complete the erection of steel beams before November 26 to meet the opening to traffic schedule on December 9.

The bridge is 108 meters long and weighs more than 850 tons. Zhongda received the processing task on September 20, 2019, requiring the production to be completed within one month. The construction period was very tight and the production pressure was huge. In order to complete the task, all employees of Zhongda gave up their rest and worked overnight. Finally, the task was completed within the required construction period, which won the high praise of the owner. Due to the short manufacturing cycle, the connection nodes are mainly bolted, the hole groups are numerous and complex, and the processing is very difficult. Zhongda conducted in-depth research and developed a continuous production process of "half-width pre-drilling and half-width matching drilling", which not only improved the production efficiency, but also ensured that the hole penetration rate of 40,000 bolts reached 100%.

This bridge is a single-track bridge, located on a 0‰ slope and R=600, 580m circular curves and straight lines. The simply supported beam uses steel bearings, the steel truss uses spherical bearings, and the fixed bearings are set at the downhill end. This bridge uses a T-type platform, and the piers use round-end solid piers. The distance from the bottom of the beam to the top of the pier is 50cm for the simply supported T-beam and 60cm for the steel truss beam.

Because this bridge crosses the main railway line and the site does not have the conditions for hoisting, Zhongda Company decided to adopt the construction technology of top pushing and traction. After precise preparation work, it finally safely crossed the railway line with more than 800 tons of behemoths and was placed on both ends of the piers more than 100 meters apart.

"The cold weather makes the days shorter, and the wind and waves are flat with the clouds." Zhongda's "iron warriors" still completed the project on schedule with guaranteed quality and quantity even in the harsh environment of minus 30°.
